Who We Are

Pure Desire exists to provide a safe place for hope and healing from the effects of sexual brokenness. We educate and equip the Church in the development of a healing ministry. Through small group resources for men, women, and teens, on-site or online counseling, training events, and ministry partnerships, Pure Desire is leading the way in the battle for sexual integrity in the church.

Pure Desire Ministries began in the local church. Our founders, Dr. Ted and Diane Roberts, recognized the pervasiveness of sexual struggle in the church. The evasive answers of the past only gave men and women a message of “try harder,” which kept them isolated in their shame and struggle.

Over the course of two decades, they developed a strategy that is biblically based, clinically informed, and highly successful in creating lasting change. In 2007, Pure Desire became an independent 501(c)(3) aimed at helping the Church throughout the country and around the world.

Pure Desire Ministries International is a biblically based and clinically informed ministry committed to true revival in the Church through the healing of the present day epidemic of sexual brokenness.

We stand affirming the Christian faith, as attested to in the inspired Old and New Testaments. We believe the Bible to be the only infallible, authoritative Word of God.

We affirm that there is one God, the Creator and Sustainer of all things. He exists in three Persons: the Father, the Son and the Holy Spirit, who are one substance and equal in power and glory. We strongly affirm that Jesus Christ is the Lord and Savior of the world and that He, and He alone, can liberate broken, hurting, and fallen humanity from sin, death, and self-destructive behavior. Thus, for the salvation of sinful and lost humanity, regeneration by the Holy Spirit is absolutely essential, which is received by grace through faith and trust in Jesus Christ, and not as a result of good works or trying harder.

Finally, we affirm that, as human beings, we are created by God in God’s own image, and that we are called and created to love God with all our heart, soul, and mind and to love others as ourselves. This, however, only becomes possible as we acknowledge our need for God and bow our knee to his Lordship in our lives.
